Eling tide mill is the only surviving tidal mill left in Britain and is located in an inlet off Southampton
Water. It is an ebb flow mill operating on exactly the same principles as the Rance Barrage - there is even a road
over the barrage. There has been a mill at the site for at least 800 years as it is mentioned in the Domesday Book.
The mill is now owned by the local council and run by a trust. Their website has information on the operation
of the mill.
